I have spent a lot of time in the 2019 Ram 1500 truck these past few months. From the first glance last March at the media preview to several test drives during the summer, it is not hard to see why the Ram 1500 won the Truck of the Year award from the Texas Auto Writers Association.
The 5.7L Hemi engine is powerful. Towing capacity is very capable. The ride is smooth. But, to me, the technology in the truck is over the top. The addition of the tablet-like 12″ UConnect 4C should be the standard for all vehicle entertainment systems. The screen is bright and large enough to be viewed by the driver and all passengers while the touchscreen features are clearly labeled. While other auto makers seem to be removing physical button and knobs to streamline their dashboard controls, Ram actually made its knobs bigger and included easy-to-use buttons to allow for redundant operation with the touchscreen.
Comfort is important to Ram and the leather, powered 8-way front seats are like butter. Both driver and passenger seats can be heated and ventilated. The back seat bench is also leather and can be folded down to carry a large load inside the cab.
The Limited 4×4 edition makes off-roading just as easy as rolling down the highway. It starts just over $56,000 and is rated at 17/22/19 mpg. For a more in-depth look check out the video below.
